MORE ABOUT MARILYN MCCLURE-DEMERS:
Marilyn T. McClure-Demers serves as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Nationwide where she is responsible for strategic legal leadership of employment, corporate, intellectual property, class action, and financial services litigation. She is also responsible for the corporate e-discovery management center of excellence and has led a variety of teams supporting all the business units within Nationwide’s Property and Casualty and Financial Services Enterprise. She serves as the law department’s Diversity Professional for Leadership Council for Legal Diversity and is a member of Nationwide’s Social Justice Task Force. A past Fellow of LCLD, Marilyn served on the national LCLD Alumni Executive Council.

Prior to Nationwide, Marilyn served as Employment Law Counsel at Rite Aid Corporation where she led the employment counseling, compliance, and litigation function and served as Chief Negotiator in collective bargaining. During her over 12 years in private law firm practice, Marilyn represented private and public sector clients, including elected public officials, in high profile regulatory, arbitration and civil litigation matters. She has been a featured speaker nationally, including at the American Bar Association Annual Meeting
and Association of Corporate Counsel University.

Marilyn is an active volunteer and advocate of justice, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the legal profession and in the community. Past President of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association, she currently serves on the board for The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the National Council Tiffany Circle for the American Red Cross, among others. Marilyn has been recognized for her efforts including by the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity with the prestigious Rick Palmore Award, by Chambers USA, the United Way and the Ohio Women’s Bar Foundation.

Marilyn holds a BA in political science and JD from West Virginia University where she serves on the WVU Alumni Association Board of Directors and College of Law Visiting Committee. She is admitted in several federal courts including the Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
